Reader's Rig. Kyle's Salsa Fargo

Hello, Im Kyle Sovada. In the winter, I ski patrol Colorado and do some other things in the off-season. Growing up in Minnesota, I was always fascinated by the bike and at an early age I found myself drawn to it. It was something I knew even before I realized it. Many of the bikes I rode as a child were either junkyard or hand-me downs. Many summers I spent fixing them up, sometimes for fun. I have stripped bikes and painted them with new colors, sometimes adding pinstripes or polka dots. When I was 16 years old, I worked as a mechanic in my local bike shop, Revolution Cycle and Ski. There I learned the art of bicycle mechanics. After moving to Oregon for college, I continued my work at bike shops and developed other outdoor hobbies.

Although the bike isn’t unique, it does the job and I love it. It’s an early Salsa Fargo, mostly stock except for the Jones Loop H-Bar and a few other oddities and ends. It was my first time riding with the Jones bar, and I loved it. I love the sweep. It puts me in a great riding spot. It helped me to stay upright and in a comfortable position that allowed me to ride for hours. Perhaps it’s mostly mental. I find that the more aggressive I ride, the less I enjoy the surrounding environment.
